The Unmasking Process - My Journey
When I began this spaceβoriginally called Unconventional IntellectualβI answered a soul call to write. I didnβt know where it was going. Creatives rarely do. But I knew I had something to say.
Through those early posts, you watched me move through the messy, nonlinear process of unmasking in real time. You saw me wrestle with ego, perfectionism, overachieving, and shame. You witnessed me walk away from a career, shut down my Substack to rest, and become a beginner again. More than anything, you saw me unmasked.
Over the past nine months, Iβve realized I wasnβt just unmasking for myselfβI was doing it for my community, too.
I couldnβt guide others through the unmasking process while wearing golden handcuffs. Before I could lead authentically, I had to face the masks I wore to meet othersβ expectations and survive my own. I had to heal the trauma that kept me disconnected. I had to stop blaming my disability when what I was feeling was fear. I had to ground myself. I had to learn how to create a life honoring my soul and gifts.
Now, I want to help you do the same.
Reintroducing Divergenthood
Divergenthood is a newsletter and soft landing space for neurodivergent people ready to unmask their spiritual gifts, ground themselves in the physical world, and live more authentically.
As neurodivergent people, we often move through life overstimulated, overworked, and underappreciated. We mask to survive, burn out, and lose touch with our truth. Our souls get droopy from a lack of authentic expression, and we forget how to live outside of survival mode.

After I was diagnosed with ADHD in 2021 and Autism in 2022, I realized Iβd been maskingβnot just my neurodivergence but my intuition, creativity, and spiritual self. I was exhausted from chasing productivity and external validation. And I wasnβt alone. So many of us are burnt out, confused, and disconnected.
I created the Unmasking Process two years ago, and itβs grown with me. At first, I thought unmasking had an endpoint, that it was something to complete. But I now see that expectation as another symptom of a capitalist system that sells us quick fixes and linear progress.
Unmasking is cyclical. Itβs spiritual. Itβs sacred.
As I integrated all I had learned, I saw how many of my masks formed in childhoodβand how much more complex they became as I grew. I realized that my disability didnβt exempt me from being human; in fact, it made the experience even more intense.
There were layers I hadnβt realized I was carryingβeach one asking to be seen before it could be released.
I had to learn to feel, even when it hurt.
To meet fear with truth.
To find wisdom in my mistakes.
To surrender my ego.
To find joy in the liminal space.
And when I stopped waiting to be saved, I turned my masks into my mission.

What to Expect in April
April is Divergenthoodβs kick-off month, and Iβm approaching it with curiosity and intention. Iβm no longer forcing a rigid content scheduleβjust committing to show up authentically and in flow.
To support that, Iβm offering a 21-Day Rest Challenge beginning April 1 for all subscribers. This challenge is designed to help our community reclaim rest as an essential part of the unmasking process. Weβll explore rest not as laziness but as a grounding strategyβa path back to your body, your energy, and your truth. Youβll receive all the details in a dedicated post in the next few days.
Until then, check out the content as it unfolds, feel into the space, and decide whether to upgrade or cancel. Honestly, you might subscribe one month for a printable or eBook and cancel the nextβand thatβs fine. Take what you need and leave the rest. All that matters is that I am creating what I am called to create, moving with purpose instead of pressure, and serving my community.
If what you need aligns with my offer, BOOM, weβve got action.
Final Thoughts
Thank you for being hereβfor reading, for witnessing, for choosing to walk this path in your own way. Your presence matters whether youβre just arriving or have been with me since the beginning.
This space isnβt about perfection. Itβs about the process. Itβs about honoring the parts of ourselves we were taught to hide and learning to live from a place of truth, not performance.
Iβm so excited for whatβs unfolding in Divergenthoodβand even more excited to walk this journey with you.
Letβs unmask, ground, and live together. π«
With love,
Dr. C
